BANGALORE, FEB. 12. The Karnataka High Court today adjourned till April 5 the hearing in connection with the appeals on the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor project. The Chief Justice, N.K. Jain, and Justice V.G. Sabahit adjourned the hearings on the appeals filed by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board and Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Engineers, challenging the judgment of the Single Judge, Justice Chandrashekharaiah, with regard to the validity of the acquisition of lands for the project. The Single Judge, while upholding the acquisition for road construction, had quashed the acquisition for development of new townships and other facilities. The Bench extended the operation of the interim stay order on the impugned judgment of the Single Judge. UNI Petition against lotteries: Our Bangalore Staff Reporter writes: The Karnataka High Court on Thursday adjourned the hearing on two writ petitions filed by the Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh governments seeking a stay on the Karnataka Government's order prohibiting the sale of lotteries belonging to other States. When the petition came up for hearing, Umesh, an advocate, submitted an application seeking to implead himself in the two cases. The petitioner submitted that the High Court had issued notices to the authorities on a public interest litigation (PIL) filed earlier by him seeking a ban on Internet lotteries. Justice H.L. Dattu observed that the petitions of Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh would be heard after considering the impleading application and adjourned the hearing.
