BANGALORE, FEB. 12. It would be curtains for the 100th session of the Legislative Council on Friday. Of the few States, which follow the bicameral system, few have seen their Legislative Council crossing the 100-session mark. The Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, referring to the 100th session of the Legislative Council, appreciated the quality of discussions in the Upper House. With the strength of the members of the House being limited to a third of the Lower House, the members of the Legislative Council had more time for debates. He recalled some of the noted legislators who had played a pivotal role in raising the dignity of the House. Several members, including the Chairman, B.L. Shankar, and the senior member, M.C. Nanaiah, who had served as the Leader of the Opposition and the Leader of the House, would retire before the next session of the Legislative Council. As many as eight members will retire on May 13 and in all likelihood the Legislative Council will not meet again before that date.
