Vijayakant in no hurry to enter politics

By Our Staff Reporter

TIRUCHI, FEB. 13. Cine actor Vijayakant says the time is not yet ripe for his entry into politics.

Talking to presspersons here yesterday, Mr. Vijayakant said though his fans felt that he should lose no time in plunging into politics, ``there is no hurry. Politics is not easy. It needs a lot of groundwork. I will make a decision at the right time." He denied he was hesitant to enter the political fray.

Asked whether any political party sought his support, he said he had not been approached so far. His followers were free to have their own political affiliations. "However, things will take a turn when I enter politics."

To a query on film stars taking to politics, he shot back, "What is wrong in it?" It was a subject of intensive research, he said. The association between cinema and politics dated back to the days of the late Chief Minister, C.N. Annadurai.

Earlier, the actor presided over a State-level meeting of the Vijayakant Rasigar Narpani Manram.
