Tension in Kakinada

KAKINADA, FEB. 15. Tense situation prevailed in Kakinada town on Sunday following the arrest of Vegulla Sivababu, Telugu Youth leader, in connection with the clash between rival groups in oil tankers' association on Saturday. While Sivababu was in the police custody in Indrapalem police station, his followers gathered at Sarpavaram junction late in the evening and staged a rata roko blocking the road with oil tankers.

As the crowd was shouting slogans condemning Sivababu's arrest, the police as a precautionary measure, diverted the traffic.
