Advice of religious heads sought

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, FEB. 15. Head of the Sri Visakha Shanmatha Sthapanacharya Jagadguru Sankaracharya Sri Sarada Peetham in Pendurthi, Visakhapatnam, Swamy Swaroopanandendra Saraswati, has urged the State Government to take all Hindu religious heads into confidence before arriving at any decision pertaining to construction activities and the various poojas at Tirumala.

At a press conference on Sunday afternoon, the religious head took exception to the Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu's instructions to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on Saturday, asking them to take the advice of Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar, before taking any decision.

He said that the heads of all the religious maths (Peethadipathis) needed to be consulted on such vital issues.

The Sarada Peetham head said that the Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar followed the `Paancharatra' tradition of Vaishnavism while the TTD followed the `Vykhanasa' tradition.

He said the latter was based on the Vedas, while the former was based on mythology.
