HYDERABAD, FEB. 15. In a rare case, a Government employee was punished for offering a bribe to his superior.

A former Deputy Executive Engineer of the Panchayat Raj Department (Quality control sub-division) of Khammam, N. Sudhakar Reddy, was sentenced to undergo two years' rigorous imprisonment and pay Rs. 1,000 fine as he was found guilty of offering Rs. 15,000 bribe on June 8, 1999, to the then District Collector, A. Mr. Reddy was charged with offering the bribe to Mr. Giridhar at the latter's camp office seeking a better posting in a regular sub-division.
