CHENNAI, FEB. 19. The Southern Command General Officer Commanding-in-chief, G.S. Sihota, will inaugurate the Palmgrove complex, an ecological park and Sainik institute, here during his two-day farewell visit from February 21. Lt.Gen. Sihota will discuss the training and welfare measures for service personnel. Mrs. Sihota, president, Army Wives Welfare Association, Southern Command, accompanying him, will inaugurate the Area nursery school and a health club. The Palmgrove Sports complex has facilities for golf, lawn tennis, skating, horse-riding, jogging and meditation. Both the complex and the ecological park were developed by the Army on a marshy stretch on the Island Grounds. The Sainik institute will conduct classes in tailoring, knitting and computer technology and has facilities that include an auditorium, a creche and a CSD canteen.
