MYSORE, FEB. 20. Members of the Mysore district unit of the Karnataka State Retired Employees' Association will stage a demonstration in front of the Chief Minister's residence on February 28 if their demands are not accepted by then. In a release, the association said the Government had failed to keep its word given four years ago. The demands pertain to revision of pension notionally as recommended by the Fifth Pay Commission, sanctioning Rs. 100 per month as medical allowance as done in some other States, and reimbursement of expenses incurred for treating heart, kidney, and other ailments. The association also urged the Government to set up a retired employees welfare fund as in Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu. It said the recommendations of the Fourth State Pay Commission effectuating a hike of 7.5 per cent in the government employees' salary should be applicable to pensioners. If the Government did not respond to their plea, the association said its members would leave for Bangalore on February 28 morning and assemble at Siroor Park opposite Seshadripuram College and stage a dharna in front of the Chief Minister's residence.
