JAMSHEDPUR, MARCH 2. A tusker stormed into a house and trampled to death a minor girl and her brother in Koatwalwadi village of Jharkhand's Saraikela-Kharswan district. The victims, seven-year-old Litima and her brother, five-year-old Gurua, were asleep in their house when the elephant broke open the door and barged in. It then dragged the children out and trampled them to death on February 29, police sources, quoting a delayed report, said today. The pachyderm has been identified as one which had been isolated from the herd and was creating havoc in Kharswan, Saraikela region as well as in West Singhbhu district during the last four months, sources said. Altogether over 20 lives have been lost in elephant attack in East and West Singhbhum and Saraikela-Kharwan district of Jharkhand during the same period with Kharswan, Saraikela region and East Singhbhum district being the worst affected by the menace. -- PTI
