Vendors oppose `franking machine policy'
INDORE,
MARCH 2.
Madhya Pradesh's stamp vendors have opposed the government's proposed policy of encouraging use of franking machines, in the wake of the Telgi scam, saying that it would lead to large-scale unemployment. The Association's president, Manish Pol, said in a release issued here that the fake stamp paper scam would hit the entire country's stamp business. ``The government is creating a situation wherein vendors would become jobless though not a single one was involved,'' he added.
The vendors alleged that the Telgi scam was a result of corruption in the police and bureaucracy as well as systemic lapses.
``Even currency, revenue stamps and Kisan Vikas Patra were found to be fake but they are still in the market. Why should only stamp vendors be punished,'' Mr Pol pointed out. -- UNI
