By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE, MARCH 15. The Karnataka High Court on Monday upheld the order of a lower court convicting Bobby Mathew of the murder of Ravish Kasarvalli, brother of the film-maker, Girish Kasarvalli.

The trial court had sentenced Mathew to life imprisonment for murdering Ravish, a photographer, at NGEF Layout in Sadanandanagar here on February 20, 1994. A Division Bench comprising Justice Bannurmath and Justice Majage upheld the order.

Stayed

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice N.K. Jain and Justice V.G. Sabhahit on Monday stayed the order of a single judge regarding recounting of votes.

G. Shivanna of M.M. Pura, Kunigal taluk, Tumkur district, the appellant, and H. Suresh had contested for the post of president of Mademavnapura gram panchayat. Two of the eleven votes cast were invalid.

When the appellant was declared elected president, Mr. Suresh challenged it in the High Court. A single judge had disposed of the petition and ordered recounting of votes.
