NEW DELHI, MARCH 19. A group of 40 Class XI students from Jammu, who are here in the Capital as part of their 10-day educational tour, met the Director General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), J.K.Sinha, at the CGO Complex here on Thursday afternoon. For the students, their first trip out of Jammu was a `fruitful' one as they actually got to see some historical places about which they had only read in their school textbooks. Imran Hasan of Doda said, "If there was no militancy, then our State too would have developed like the others. While people in other parts of the country can venture out in the night, in Jammu we cannot move out of our homes after 7 p.m." Another student, Vinay Kumar, who hails from Udhampur, was impressed by the grandeur of the historical Jama Masjid and Qutub Minar. Shakir Husain said that the CRPF's men had been looking after them so well that they did not miss home at all. For Amit Kumar the architecture of the Lotus Temple was the highlight of his trip to Delhi. The students expressed gratitude to the CRPF for not only arranging school textbooks and providing medical facilities in Jammu, but also for looking after them well throughout the trip which was part of its Civic Action Programme. For his part, Mr Sinha said that he had gone on an educational trip to Kashmir in his school days and had seen the Dal Lake and ice-skating at Pahalgam. "Since you have seen Jhelam and Chenab you should also see the Ganga. To get a sense of the history it is important that you take a look at Agra's Taj Mahal and also Fatehpur Sikri," he told the students. So far, the students have been to Jallianwalla Bagh and the Golden Temple. They would now be going to Agra, Kurukshetra, Panipat and Pinjore.
