NEW DELHI, MARCH 19. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has questioned a Delhi Police officer of the rank of Deputy Commissioner and two Assistant Commissioners of Delhi Police (ACP) in the past few days in connection with Inspector Puran Singh's alleged links with the multi-crore fake stamp paper racket mastermind, Abdul Karim Telgi. While the CBI summoned the DCP Legal Cell, R.S. Ghumman, for questioning on Thursday, it questioned ACP Prem Nath about the probe into Telgi-related cases on Tuesday and Thursday. This apart, a retired ACP, R.C. Thakur, was also questioned on Wednesday about Puran Singh's role. The CBI had summoned him on Monday, but he did not turn up then. It is learnt that the CBI posed most questions pertaining to Puran Singh's "strong" links with Telgi. The CBI has also asked the police officers about the details of briefings given by Puran Singh to them during the probe he had been conducting. They are also being asked whether they were in the know of his trips to Bangalore and Mumbai and the purpose of these visits. The CBI officials are also inquisitive about Puran Singh's claim that Telgi was his source of information about the fake stamp paper racket. Investigations have, however, revealed that Puran Singh had made arrests in the Defence Colony case on the basis of false statements. Earlier, the CBI had questioned Puran Singh's former supervisory officer, ACP S.K. Tomar, in this connection.
