VS criticises Mammootty

KOTTAYAM, MARCH 22. The Leader of the Opposition,V. S. Achuthanandan, today pulled up the chairman of the CPI(M)- controlled Kairali Television and cine star, Mammootty, for his reported move to be the brand ambassador for a multinational softdrink company. Talking to reporters here today, he said "I could not believe myself''.

Multinational softdrink companies had flouted the law and had destroyed groundwater reserves in Palakkad, he pointed out.

Popular ire against the softdrink companies was brewing and any such move by the film star would invite the wrath of the people, Mr. Achuthanandan said.

The CPI(M) leader said that he would look into the veracity of the report and try to dissuade Mr. Mamootty from making any "foolish'' decision.
