PM wants probe into theft expedited

NEW DELHI,
MARCH 25.
The Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, has taken a serious note of the reported theft of Rabindranath Tagore's Nobel Prize from the Visvabharati University at Shantiniketan.
Mr. Vajpayee, who is an ex-officio Chancellor of the University, has spoken to the Vice-Chancellor and the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Buddhadeb Bhattacharya. He has desired that the enquiry into the disappearance of Gurudev's prize be expedited.
The Centre also extended assistance to the West Bengal Government in tracing the lost prize. The Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, who is in Chandigarh, spoke to Mr. Bhattacharya over telephone and offered all assistance in recovering the national property.
