The Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, at a photo session at his residence in New Delhi on Thursday.

NEW DELHI, MARCH 25. It was the photographers' day out. And the Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, played host. About 90 lensmen from the print media — some veterans and some new kids on the block — clicked away to their hearts' content as the Prime Minister gave in to the post-cricket victory mood.

He recited poetry, recounted anecdotes and recognised old faces.

The old-timers had come armed with Mr. Vajpayee's photographs from his earlier days and the Prime Minister obligingly signed them.

This kind of interaction with photographers used to be an annual ritual during Jawaharlal Nehru's days at Teen Murthi Bhavan. The ritual was observed off and on during Indira Gandhi's era.
