MYSORE, MARCH 28. The Mysore City Corporation will build community toilets as well as pay-and-use toilets at four places in the city under the Nirmala Nagar Yojana. A release from the corporation said that a community toilet would be built at Bade Makan area while three pay-and-use toilets would be built near the Town Hall, behind the Sanskrit College and near the Rajendra Nagar Bus Stand. Apart from these, the corporation had identified places to build toilets on Mahadevapura Road and Junk Yard Road. It said the toilets were being built following a survey conducted by the corporation in the areas. It had also taken into account the requirements of the people. The release said management of the toilets could be either contracted to a private party or managed by self-help groups, Stree Shakti or savings group, or community-based organisations. The release said the community-based toilets would be managed by levying a monthly user pay charge of Rs. 30 a family. The members of the community toilets would have certain benefits, including free health check-up camps by specialists, access to toilets and insurance for the head of the family.
