SHILLONG,
MARCH 29.
The former Lok Sabha Speaker and Nationalist Trinamool Congress leader, P. A. Sangma, was among three candidates who filed their nominations today for the two Lok Sabha seats in Meghalaya.
The State's Public Works and Information Technology Minister, Mukul Sangma, pitted by the Congress against P.A. Sangma, also filed his papers during the day, official sources said.
Mr. Purno Sangma, who would be facing the electorate under the banner of NTC after the merger of his breakaway NCP with Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress, was seeking re-election from Tura, located in the Garo Hills region.
Mr. Mukul Sangma submitted three sets of nominations at the West Garo Hills district deputy commissioner's office. A medical practitioner, Mr. Mukul Sangma was currently representing Ampatigiri Assembly constituency in Garo Hills. For the Shillong seat, S. Loniak Marbaniang filed his papers. Marbaniang, a consensus candidate of four regional parties of the ruling Meghalaya Democratic Alliance, filed the papers at the East Khasi Hills District Deputy Commissioner's office. PTI
