Bar licence: Antony told to come clean
By Our Staff Reporter
KOTTAYAM,
MARCH 31.
The Kerala Congress(S) leader, P.C. George, today asked the Chief Minister, A.K. Antony, to come clean on the controversy surrounding the decision to withdraw the new `abkari' policy that had sought to introduce slab system for licence fee.
Speaking to mediapersons, here today, Mr. George claimed that he had reliable information that the issue was not taken up during the Cabinet meeting on March 17. According to him, the decision to rescind the order was taken by three persons the Chief Minister, the Excise Minister and the Excise Commissioner, without taking either the Cabinet or the UDF into confidence.
The KC(S) leader alleged that the whole episode smacked of corruption and was aimed at raising funds for the forthcoming elections.
