LDF accuses Sudheeran, Ramesh of misusing MP funds

By Our Staff Reporter

ALAPPUZHA, MARCH 31. The LDF Alappuzha district convener and RSP district secretary, V. Mohan Das, has said that the former Congress MPs, V.M. Sudheeran and Ramesh Chennithala, had misused the MP funds.

At a press conference here today, Mr. Mohan Das said that Mr. Sudheeran and Mr. Ramesh had given financial assistance to private institutions, in violation of the rule that the MP funds should not be provided to private institutions.

Mr. Sudheeran and Mr. Ramesh had given aid to a large number of schools in the private sector, alleged Mr. Mohan Das.

He claimed that Mr. Sudheeran had spend Rs. 25 lakhs from his MP funds to construct a three-storeyed building for the Alappuzha Bar Association on the Alappuzha district court premises.

The Bar Association is a body registered under the Companies Act, pointed out Mr. Mohan Das.

A law library in the bar association building, which had been built for the public, was lying unused after construction, said Mr. Mohan Das.

He said that both Mr. Ramesh and Mr. Sudheeran had not done anything for the development of industries in the district.

Many big industries in the district in the public and private sectors had closed down, he said.

According to him, Mr. Ramesh's campaign in Mavelikara was aided liberally by big liquor lobbies in Karnataka and Maharashtra.
