Govinda files papers

MUMBAI, APRIL 5. Film star Govinda, the Lok Sabha Speaker, Manohar Joshi, and the Union Minister for State, Jaywantiben Mehta, filed their nomination papers here today.

While Mr. Govinda is contesting from the North Mumbai constituency against the Union Petroleum Minister, Ram Naik, Mr. Joshi is seeking re-election from North Central Mumbai. Ms. Mehta is trying her luck in South Mumbai.

The president of the Mumbai Regional Congress Committee, Gurudas Kamat, filed papers for North East Mumbai to challenge the sitting BJP member, Kirit Somaiya. The latter also filed his papers today.
