Rigorous imprisonment till death

ALAPPUZHA,
APRIL 5.
The Additional Sessions Judge, Mavelikara, P.D. Rajan, today sentenced the accused in a mass murder case to rigorous life imprisonment till death.
According to the case, the accused, Vamadevan of Rajesh Bhavanam, Eram Muri, Venmony in the district, had murdered his wife, Padmavathi, and children, Radhika and Rajesh, on June 6, 1998. It is only on rare occasions that a court sentences an accused to rigorous life imprisonment for his whole life. In India, life imprisonment denotes a period of 14 years.
