Hat-trick by Moses

HYDERABAD, APRIL 28. A hat-trick by left-in Paul Moses was the highlight of South Central Railway's impressive 11-0 win over Young Turks in the A-1 division hockey league championship match at Begumpet Police Stadium here today. The winner led 6-0 at the break.

The Railwaymen took the lead in the fourth minute through Dung Dung on the right flank, who showed his usual enthusiasm and skills to hoodwink the rival defence before essaying a delectable, carpet drive. And within six minutes, Paul Moses took complete charge of the proceedings with some pleasing forays into the striking zone and scoring in the 10th, 13th and 17th minutes. Centre-half Shyam Cariappa was in the scoring act in the 21st minute and Dung Dung scored his second goal just before the break.

The second session saw no respite for the hapless Young Turks as the experienced Railway outfit continued to dominate. On resumption winger Prabhakar Singh struck the seventh goal off another fine solo effort. Later, Dung Dung and Hardeep Singh struck twice each to complete the tally.

SCR earned three penalty-corners and Young Turks two.
