Ratnakaran's fine run continues

KOZHIKODE, APRIL 28. Top seed K. Ratnakaran continued his fine run in the 42nd State `A' chess championship, recording his seventh straight win at the Chess India Complex here on Wednesday. The local lad's score now stands at a perfect seven after the seventh round.

O.T. Anil Kumar, also from Kozhikode, is in the sole second position with six points, followed by another player from the host district, N. Jyothilal, who is in the third place with 5.5 points.

Important results (seventh round): K. Ratnakaran (Koz) 7 bt M.A. Joy Lazer (Tsr) 4.5; Ganesh Bhat (Ekm) 4.5 lost to O.T. Anil Kumar (Koz) 6; M.B. Muraleedharan (Ekm) 4 lost to N. Jyothilal (Koz) 5.5; Alex Thomas (Wyd) 5 bt V.M. Rajeev (Tvm) 4; P. Sreekumar (Tvm) 5 bt K.R. Madhusoodanan (Koz) 4; N. Santhosh Kumar (Koz) 4.5 drew with K.M. Nizam (Koz) 4.5.
