ITI anticipates Rs. 1,200 cr. BSNL order
BANGALORE: ITI expects to get orders for GSM mobile telephony equipment worth Rs. 1,200 crores from public sector telecom carrier BSNL in five months, a company release said here on Thursday. ITI recently signed a technology transfer and manufacture under the licence agreement with French firm Alcatel. On the back of this deal, ITI had announced in March that it would make GSM equipment worth about Rs. 350 crores for BSNL. That equipment would handle a million connections, ITI had said. In five months, Alcatel's ITI-made `Evolium' brand of equipment would be validated. BSNL, which planned another 3.5 million GSM connections, would need equipment worth another Rs. 1,200 crores.
