NEW DELHI, MAY 4 . It was the beginning of a youth movement with a difference as members of the Youth Mobilisation for National Advancement (YMNA) gathered at Janpath here today to pledge their support for the Congress candidate from the New Delhi Parliamentary constituency, Ajay Maken. Promising to motivate people to vote for the future, these youngsters have launched a signature campaign to mobilise the voters to choose Mr. Maken. Starting the signature campaign with his vote - "Youth is the future. Victory to them'' - was filmstar-turned-politican Sunil Dutt. "The youth is the future of the country. They have to take the reigns of the country in their hands to abolish communalism. I am sure they will work to have united India, where there is no discrimination due to caste or religion,'' Mr. Dutt said. Stating that unemployment was a major problem among the youth, Mr. Maken said the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance had failed to deliver on any programme for the youngsters. "It is up to the new generation to work for change in the present political system through democratic means, so that you can change society,'' he said. Wearing T-shirts asking people to vote for Mr. Maken, these committed youngsters claimed that they were doing just that. "Mr. Maken has all the right values. He has spoken about education and has been working with us in slums. We might not all be able to vote for him, but we can at least try and get people to support him. He is working towards a better future. We will travel with the board to different markets so that we can get people to sign on it,'' said Sahiba, a member of YMNA.
