A car in her kitty for Re.1

By Our Staff Reporter

VIJAYAWADA, MAY 7. Little did the city-based housewife, Venkata Nagalakshmi (30), anticipate that the one-rupee Rin sachet would fetch her a brand new Maruti-Alto. Ms. Nagalakshmi's joy knew no bounds on Friday, when the Area Sales Manager of the Hindustan Lever Limited (HLL), Gaurau Dutta, handed over the car keys to her at a function held at the Hotel D.V. Manor.

"We have been using Rin for several years and I am delighted at having won the prize," an elated Ms. Nagalakshmi said. Her husband runs a provisions store near the Sitannapet Railway Gate. She had taken some packets from her husband's store for domestic use, but Lady Luck had better things in store for her.

Speaking to reporters before handing over the keys, Mr. Dutta said the promotion offer launched in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu from April 2 would continue till May-end. Under the scheme, HLL offered prizes for consumers who purchased five Re. 1 Rin sachets during the two-month period.
