HYDERABAD, MAY 8. The Chief Electoral Officer, M. Narayana Rao, has sought a report from the Guntur district election officer regarding the incident at Venkatayapalem in Pedakurapadu Assembly constituency on the polling day in which the election authorities took away the electronic voting machine midway due to naxal threat, leaving out many voters. Mr Rao said if such an incident had occurred, the presiding officer would have mentioned the same in his diary and he would have come to know about it. As per the feedback of the day (April 26) received by him from different districts, all the helicopters deployed for collecting men and material, including electronic voting machines, had done their job only at or after 5 pm. In a situation like this, it was not true that a particular helicopter had started back home at 2 pm, that too at the instance of a police officer, depriving many voters of an opportunity to cast their ballot.
