The oldest and the youngest

NEW DELHI, MAY 17. At 94, Ramchandra Veerappa of Karnataka will be the oldest Parliamentarian in the 14th Lok Sabha, in which the average age of MPs will be 52.7 years.

According to statistics released by the Election Commission today, Mr. Veerappa, a BJP candidate who won from Bidar, Karnataka, is the oldest winning candidate.

On the other hand, 26-year-old Sachin Pilot of the Congress, winning candidate from Dausa in Rajasthan, is the youngest.

The commission said there were many contestants who were 25, the minimum age required to be a Member of Parliament.
