Hurriyat ready for talks with new government

By Shujaat Bukhari

SRINAGAR, MAY 17. The Hurriyat Conference (Abbas) has no objection to continuing the dialogue with the new government on the lines on which it was held with the previous regime.

The former Hurriyat chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, told The Hindu " it is to be seen what the Congress Government's policy towards Kashmir would be. But we would like to continue with the dialogue on the same lines..."

"It is clear that the talks were held without any conditions, for finding a lasting solution to the Kashmir problem and Pakistan would be included in the process at a later stage."

If these conditions were the basis for the dialogue, the Hurriyat had no objection, he said.
