Ruling reserved on bail plea in Bilkis case

By Our Special Correspondent

AHMEDABAD, MAY 17. The Dahod fast track court today reserved till May 20 its ruling on the bail application of 12 accused in the Bilkis Banoo gangrape and mass murder case.

During the hearing in the case in the last two days, the advocate for the accused claimed that there was no prima facie case against the accused and the investigating authorities had failed to collect evidence against them to prove their involvement in the gangrape of Bilkis Banoo and the killing of 14 of her family members during the communal riots in Gujarat in March, 2002. The CBI advocate, however, countering the claim said evidence had been collected against the accused to justify their sentence.
