Mason murdered

By Our Staff Reporter

VISAKHAPATNAM, MAY 19. An altercation between two masons, both from West Godavari district, has resulted in one of them allegedly murdering the other. According to the III Town Police, the incident took place inside the building they were constructing.

Vipparthi Sreenu (25) of Muppavaram (near Nidadavole) and Meralla Boorayya (19) of Vijjeswaram (near Kovvuru) were among a group of masons brought here 10 days ago by a contractor engaged in the construction of the State Bank of India's Zonal Office building in Balaji Nagar, near Siripuram junction.

Both frequently blamed each other for avoiding work, the police said. Around 4.30 am on Wednesday, while the workers were asleep in an open space in the second floor of the building, Boorayya allegedly dropped a boulder on the head of Sreenu. The noise woke the other workers who saw Sreenu in a pool of blood. He was rushed to the King George Hospital where he was declared "brought dead.'' The police rushed to the spot and arrested the accused. The Inspector and Sub-Inspector of the III Town Police Station, Srinivasa Rao and Ch. Tirupati Rao, said the accused had admitted guilt.
