`NDA ignored farmers'

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, MAY 25. The new Minister of State for Food and Agriculture, Akhilesh Singh (RJD), today said the priority of his Ministry would be to initiate policy directions that would be beneficial to farmers.

``The NDA government had ignored the farmers. It's feel-good and India shining factors were relevant only in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata. In villages, farmers are suffering because of high cost of inputs and depressed prices for their produce. So many have committed suicide,'' he said on taking charge of his Ministry.
