Arjun Singh calls IIM heads for meeting

NEW DELHI, MAY 25. In the backdrop of the previous BJP-led Government's controversial decision on the fee cut in the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), the Human Resource Development Minister, Arjun Singh, has called a meeting of the Directors and Chairmen of all the six premier institutions here on May 31. The meeting was aimed at hearing the views of the prestigious B-schools in the wake of the former HRD Minister, Murli Manohar Joshi's controversial decision to drastically slash the fees, Ministry sources said.

Soon after assuming charge of the Ministry yesterday, Mr. Singh said: "We have already said all institutions of higher learning must have autonomy. He indicated that he was prepared for a dialogue with the IIMs.
