CHENNAI, MAY 27 . The India Youth team, which won the silver medal in the last World championship at Supanburi (Thailand) and bagged the Asian championship for the first time at Visakhapatnam, received a cash award of Rs. 4.5 lakh from the Central Government. This was distributed by K. Murugan, Secretary of the Volleyball Federation of India (VFI), in the presence of G. Kishore, Director, SAI Southern Centre, Bangalore. The team has already received Rs. 20 lakh from the VFI President, B. Sivanthi Adityan, for its excellent show in 2003. The Indian men's squad, which won the SAF Games gold medal, will receive Rs. 3 lakh from B. Sivanthi Adityan. Meanwhile, the list of probables for the Asian Central Zone men's volleyball championship, to be held at Visakhapatnam, from July 13 to 18, and the Indian camp for the Asian junior championship, to be held at Doha from September 3 to 10, has also been announced.
Chief coach: G.E. Sridharan; Asst. coaches: H.D. Krishnappa and Bir Singh Yadav.
The probables for the junior men's camp: Attackers: Rampal, Vikas Tomar, Sayoog, Ramakrishna Raju, Sudarshan Varma, Sudipta Kumar, Anand Mishra, Karthikeyan, Saravanan; Blockers: Gurbinder Singh, Shelton Moses, Anil Kumar; Universal: Ashok Kumar, Gurvinder Singh, Maharahan; Setters: Gurpreet Singh, Balwinder Singh, Karthik Srikanth, Darshan Singh; Libero: Palaniandi and Satish Kumar. Chief coach: Made Gowda; Asst. coach: K.A. Khan.
