HARARE, MAY 27. Australia beat Zimbabwe by 139 runs in the second one-day cricket international and clinched the three-match series 2-0 at the Harare Sports Club on Thursday. Australia made 323 for eight in 50 overs, then bowled out Zimbabwe for 184 in 44.3 overs. Darren Lehmann scored 67 and took four wickets for seven runs. Earlier Matthew Hayden compiled his 22nd one-day half century as a cool and casual Australia racked up 323 for eight wickets. Hayden with 87 and Darren Lehmann scoring 67 took the lion's share of the runs, combining to put on 137 for the third wicket. It was the 15th time that Lehmann reached 50 in limited overs. Hayden was out for a duck in the first match here on Tuesday after playing a careless shot and he clearly had no intention of failing again. Taking his time at the top of the innings, he only opened out when joined by Lehmann. Some caution was necessary after Adam Gilchrist scored just 20 and Michael Clarke made only 16 to leave Australia two down for 43. Lehmann's 67 took him 69 balls as he hit seven 4s, two of them reverse sweeps. Hayden hit 12 fours. Damien Martyn went in to bat at number seven after Hayden was caught by Brendan Taylor off a Tawanda Mpariwa ball.
Zimbabwe fast bowler Douglas Hondo had to go off after being hit in the face by a return shot from Ponting and his final over was completed by Mpariwa. AP
