24 Collectors, 12 SPs shifted

CHENNAI, MAY 29. In a major administrative reshuffle, the State government today effected large-scale transfers, including shifting of 24 District Collectors and 12 Superintendents of Police.

Top police officers, including the Greater Chennai and Madurai City Commissioners, have been shifted.

K. Natarajan, a 1973 batch IPS officer, is the new Commissioner of Greater Chennai, in the place of R. Nataraj. Hitherto, Mr. Natarajan was the Additional Director-General of Police (Intelligence). Mr. Nataraj has been transferred and posted as Additional Director-General of Police, Law and Order, Chennai. He succeeds S.V. Venkatakrishnan, who is the new ADGP, Intelligence.

Nearly a month after he was posted as Commissioner of Madurai, Abhash Kumar, has been shifted to Salem city as Commissioner, vice Sunil Kumar. Prior to taking over the assignment in Madurai, Mr. Abash Kumar was the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), Administration.

Another DIG rank officer, Mithilesh Kumar Jha, hitherto Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP), Central Zone, Greater Chennai, has been deputed to the Central Industrial Security Force, Bangalore. C. Sylendra Babu, JCP, North Zone, Chennai, has been placed in full additional charge of the Central Zone.

Mr. Nataraj, a 1975 batch officer, was earlier heading the Special Task Force formed to nab the forest brigand, Veerappan, with headquarters at Sathyamangalam in Erode district. He was posted as Commissioner of Greater Chennai only in November 2003.

The government issued orders posting new Superintendents of Police for Villupuram, Dharmapuri, Dindigul, Kancheepuram, Madurai, Karur, Pudukottai, Sivaganga, the Nilgiris, Tiruvarur, Tiruchi and Virudhunagar districts.

Significantly, V. Kannuchamy, who was transferred as Chennai Collector, following complaints to the Election Commission of large-scale deletion of names from the electoral rolls, has been moved back to the post. He replaces M. Rajaram, who has been re-posted as Director of Rural Development.

Among the officers who have been transferred are Ashish Vachhani, Deputy Secretary (Finance); S. Murugaia, Secretary and Personnel Officer, Tamil Nadu Housing Board; D. Karthikeyan, Commissioner, Coimbatore Corporation; G. Ramamoorthy, formerly Joint Secretary (Agriculture); V.M. Xavier Chrisso Nayagam, Deputy Commissioner (Excise), Chennai; and D. Vivekanandan, General Manager (Administration and Land Acquisition), State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu.

Jatindranath Swain, Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Magnesite Limited, Salem; K.S. Muthuswamy, Additional Director of Rural Development; A. Sukumaran, Director of Social Welfare, Chennai; P. Ekambaram, Officer on Special Duty, Koodankulam Power Project, Nagercoil; Kumar Jayant, Joint Chief Electoral Officer and Joint Secretary, Public (Elections); V. Pandian, Officer on Special Duty, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (Administration); Satyabrata Sahoo, Joint Commissioner (Relief), Revenue Administration, Disaster Management and Mitigation Department; S. Gopalakrishnan, Director, Anna Institute of Management, Chennai; and Anandarao Vishnu Patil, Commissioner, Corporation of Tiruchi, have also been shifted to other posts.

Mr. Vachhani will replace M.A. Siddique as Dharmapuri Collector; Mr. Murugaia will succeed P. Senthilkumar as Dindigul Collector; Mr. Karthikeyan will be the new Erode Collector replacing Ka. Balachandran, Mr. Ramamoorthy will become Collector of Karur in the place of P. Annamalai, Mr. Xavier Chrisso Nayagam will assume charge as Namakkal Collector replacing D. Rajendiran and Mr. Vivekanandan will replace S. Natarajan as Perambalur Collector.

Mr. Jatindranath Swain will replace Hitesh Kumar S. Makwana as Pudukottai Collector, Mr. Muthuswamy will be the new Nilgiris Collector and Mr. Sukumaran will become the Collector of Salem succeeding S. Ramachandran. Mr. Ekambaram has been posted as Tiruvarur Collector in the place of G. Sundaramurthy. Mr. Kumar Jayant will succeed S.K. Prabakar as Tiruvallur Collector, while the latter has been brought back to the post of Director of Technical Education.

Mr. Chandrasekaran will replace K. Rajaraman as Tuticorin Collector, Mr. Pandian will succeed K. Manivasan as Tiruchi Collector, Mr. Satyabrata Sahoo will assume charge as Tiruvannamalai Collector replacing Dheeraj Kumar, Mr. Gopalakrishnan will succeed A. Chittarajan Mohandoss as Vellore Collector, and Mr. Anandarao Vishnu Patil will be the new Sivaganga Collector in the place of J. Radhakrishnan who will succeed S. Kosalaraman as Thanjavur Collector. Mr. Kosalaraman will replace N. Muruganandam as Coimbatore Collector.

The Namakkal Collector, D. Rajendiran, will become Madurai Collector replacing B. Chandra Mohan. The Nilgiris Collector, K. Sellamuthu, will be the new Ramanathapuram Collector in the place of S. Vijayakumar. Sunil Paliwal, now Collector of Tirunelveli, will replace his Theni counterpart, Atul Anand, who is posted as Tirunelveli Collector. Ka. Balachandran, who at present is the Erode Collector, will replace his Villupuram counterpart, K. Gopal.
