Kerala unlikely to train Iraqi police

By Our Principal Correspondent

THRISSUR, JUNE 4. The Kerala Government is unlikely to accept the request of the United Nations for training the Iraqi police at the Kerala Police Academy here.

According to the top officials of the Academy, they have already suggested to the Government not to accept the request. They said the request itself was a routine communication from the Union Government and there was no serious discussion on it so far.

The Centre had sent the U.N. request to 16 States and since a new Academy was being set up in Kerala, a copy of that request was communicated to the State also, they said.
