12 killed in attack

BAGHDAD, JUNE 13. A suicide attacker detonated a car bomb near a U.S. military camp in Baghdad on Sunday, killing 12 persons, and wounding 13. Gunmen killed a senior Education Ministry official in the second assassination of a government figure in as many days.

An American soldier was killed and two others were wounded during a bombing and small arms attack near Taji, north of Baghdad, the U.S. command said. One assailant was also killed. — AP
