PONDICHERRY, JUNE 14. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam MLA, Annibal Kennedy, has requested the Education Minister, K. Lakshminarayanan, to admit students passing the plus two in supplementary examinations to professional courses. In a letter to the Minister on Saturday, he said that while candidates who completed their matriculation in more than one attempt were admitted for plus two, the same should apply for students passing standard XII. He also said that representations were coming in from parents of students in this regard. Mr. Kennedy said that last year a number of seats remained vacant both in the government and private colleges. The number of students taking the common entrance test in 2004 was less compared to last year. Hence there was the possibility of a number of engineering seats remaining vacant that could be given to students passing plus two in supplementary examinations.
