CHENNAI, JUNE 29. Anna University today reiterated that fee structure prescribed by the permanent committee for fixation of fees for private professional education will take effect from the academic year 2004-05 and will be valid for three years. E. Balagurusamy, Vice-Chancellor, in a release said the fee structure given in the information booklet issued along with the application for the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions 2004 stood null and void in view of the proceedings of the permanent committee. The all-inclusive fee per student per annum for non-accredited undergraduate courses in self-financing engineering colleges is fixed at Rs. 32,500. The annual fee is for admission, tuition, sports, laboratory/computer/internet, development, maintenance and amenities, extra-curricular activities and other recurring expenditure. This does not include hostel, transport and mess charges. The corresponding all-inclusive fee for NBA (National Board of Accreditation) courses is Rs. 40,000 per annum per student. In addition to the recurring annual fee, the concerned institutions are permitted to collect a refundable one-time caution deposit not exceeding Rs. 5,000 per student at the time of admission. The amount is refundable at the time the student leaves the institution. The committee also recommended to the institutions to grant partial waiver/concession of Rs. 5,000 per annum in case of meritorious students. It will be open to the management to charge lesser fee than that is prescribed, according to a release from the Vice-Chancellor.
