Narrow win for Bangalore Zone
BANGALORE,
JULY 1.
Bangalore Zone snatched a one-wicket victory over President's XI in a KSCA inter-district under-17 tournament match at the NRA Palace Ground here on Thursday. Chasing President's XI's 194, Bangalore Zone struck the right notes early on as openers Vikas Baldia (41) and Vivek Kumar (63) shared a 118-run partnership in 24 overs. However a middle-order collapse left the tail with the onerous task of pocketing the winning runs. Luckily, the tail did wag and Adarsh's unbeaten 23 helped Bangalore Zone notch the winning runs.
The scores: President's XI 194 for nine in 50 overs (Nishanth Hegde 38, K.V. Bharat 35, A.G. Deepak 34 n.o., Gaurav Rajaram 30, Adarsh Kumar three for 44) lost to Bangalore Zone 195 for nine in 44.3 overs (Vivek Kumar 63, Vikas Baldia 41, A.G. Deepak four for 34).
Combined City XI 210 for nine in 50 overs (Tejas Wagle 49, S.R. Jayanth 45, B.S. Naveen 33, Akhil Hassan four for 40) lost to Vice-President's XI 202 for seven in 42 overs (Deburshreyas 86, Zohar 37). Vice-President's XI won on better run-rate after rains forced an early closure of play.
