Mosley to step down as FIA chief
MAGNY COURS,
JULY 1.
Max Mosley will step down as president of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) in October 2004, the FIA announced on Thursday.
In a statement, the FIA said Mosley informed its general assembly he would resign at the end of the Formula One season. Mosley is scheduled to hold a news conference on Friday. Mosley has been president since October 1993. During his tenure, F-1 has arguably emerged as the highest profile auto-racing sport in the world.
Mosley engineered the merger between the FIA and FISA the sporting subsidiary of the FIA and was elected president for a four-year period 11 years ago. He was re-elected in October 1997 and again in 2001. AP
