Cricket
LONDON, JULY 1. The ten-year Future Tours Programme of the International Cricket Council is all set for a revamp with the game's world governing body today saying it was seeking to put into place a ``better model'' which would take into account concerns over workload on players. ICC Chief Executive Officer Malcolm Speed said ICC was looking into alternatives to the current system which requires full members of the ICC, including minnows, being guaranteed matches against bigger teams on home and away basis. ``Concerns over the volume of cricket -- the flexibility to accommodate emerging nations' aspirations and the workload it places on the players are some of the issues that need to be addressed,'' Speed said in his speech at the Business Forum of the ICC. ``If in the opinion of our stakeholders the Future Tours Programme no longer provides the best model for the structure of cricket, so be it we will seek to implement a better model,'' he said. The CEO said a review has been on for the past three months and some ``initial options'' would be placed before the Executive Board in October this year. PTI
