Germany trounces India
AMSTERDAM,
JULY 2.
Germany's Bjorn Michel scored a hat-trick as India crashed to its third successive defeat in the four-nation Rabobank hockey tournament here on Thursday.
Michel's goals in a 10-minute blitzkrieg helped his side emerge 4-0 winner and win a place in the final against Holland on Sunday.
After managing to put up a fight in the first half, during which they conceded a goal scored by Christopher Bechmann, the Indians hardly offered any resistance after the break as Michel went berserk converting three penalty corners.
Holland edges past Pakistan
Olympic champion Holland edged past Pakistan 3-2 to set up a title clash with World champion Germany. The host led 1-0 at half time.
For the winner, the goal scorers were Teun de Nooijer (5th), Karel Klaver (41st) and Matthijs Brouwer (68) while Ghazanfar Ali (50th) and Rehan Butt (56th) scored for Pakistan. Agencies
