Asoka drubs New Venus

COIMBATORE, JULY 2. Asoka Football Club scored a convincing 4-1 win over New Venus Football Club in the Mahendra Pumps `A' division football league, organised by the Coimbatore District Football Association, at the Nehru Stadium here on Friday.

Kamesh (22nd minute), Sivakumar (25th and 62nd) and Thangavel scored for AFC, while Abdul Kareem pulled one back for Venus in the 76th minute.

At the Tirupur Nanjappa Higher Secondary School grounds, Thiyagi NGR and Union Football Club played out a 1-1 draw. Rathnavelu of Tirupur Union FC scored in the 48th minute, while Ravi of Thiyagi NGR struck the equaliser in the 63rd minute. — Our Sports Reporter
