THA juniors beat ICF

TIRUNELVELI, JULY 2. The defending champion Tamilnadu Hockey Association juniors team defeated Integral Coach Factory Chennai 4-3 and entered the semi-finals of the fourth annual Kandasamy memorial trophy State-level hockey tournament at Palayamkottai on Friday.

Others to make the last-four grade were Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, both from Chennai and last year's runner-up Reserve Line Sports Club, Madurai.

In the tie-breaker, Ashwin, Raj Narayan, Johnson and Alfred Asir scored and Kannan failed to score for TNHA Juniors. For ICF, Rajendra Prasad, Yuvaraj (Jr) and Paul Pandy scored while Raja and Hayath failed.

Reserve Line Sports Club (Madurai) beat State Bank 2-0. Govindasamy and Kathiravan scored the goals.

The Indian Bank - Thirunagar Hockey club tie also was hotly contested goal by former Olympian Thirumalvalavan helped Indian Bank pipped Thirunagar HC.

The last quarter-final match IOB beat Reserve Bank. Senthil and Raja Vetri Selvan scored the goals.
