NEW DELHI, JULY 5. Investigation into the sting operation in which the former Union Minister, Dilip Singh Judev, was allegedly caught on a video camera taking bribe from an individual last year received a setback today when the man who had conducted the operation told the Delhi High Court that the original unedited video compact discs (VCDs) of the incident had been damaged. Pavan Narang, counsel for Bhupendra Singh alias Rahul, who worked with the Chhattisgarh-based Akash Television Channel reportedly owned by Amit Jogi, son of the former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister, Ajit Jogi, submitted before Justice S.K. Aggarwal that the original unedited VCDs containing the entire episode had been damaged. Justice R.S. Sodhi of the High Court had on February 17 directed Rahul to hand over the unedited VCDs to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Mr. Justice Sodhi had issued the direction on a complaint by the investigating agency that Rahul had so far not handed over the tapes to it as directed by the High Court in January. Taking note of Mr. Narang's submission, Mr. Justice Aggarwal directed Rahul to file an affidavit stating all that he had submitted orally. In a petition seeking quashing of the FIR against him, Rahul had claimed that the VCDs having details of the operation were with him. Rahul and two of his co-accused, Arvind Vijaimohan and Praveen Jain, have sought quashing of the FIR against them submitting that no case was made against them as they had committed no offence.
