By Our Special Correspondent

HAVERI, JULY 5. Two farmers are reported to have committed suicide in Haveri district. Hullappa Ramappa Jadar (40) of Kulimelihalli in Savanur taluk, who was in debt, ended his life by consuming pesticide on Saturday, the police said. Hullappa, who had two and a half acres of land, owed Rs. 25,000 to a local primary agricultural cooperative society. He had also taken loans from other sources.

He could not raise the crop last year because of failure of rains and this year he did not have the money to start agricultural operations, the police said.
