Ravinder for World junior archery meet
HYDERABAD,
JULY 6.
AP archer N. Ravinder has been selected to represent India in the 8th World junior archery championship, which is to be held at Lillehall, UK, from July 1 to 25. He is the first archer from Andhra Pradesh to be picked in the Indian team for a world meet. This was announced in a statement released by the AP Archery Association here on Tuesday.
Ravinder got his first big break when he was picked under the SAG scheme from Sangramhanda village in Nizamabad district in 1999. He underwent training at the SAI coaching centre in Nizamabad under the supervision of NIS coach C.R. Kurmi. Thereafter he won medals in junior and senior national championships and also a silver medal at the 32nd National Games in Hyderabad in 2002. He also won a gold in the Asian junior championship at Jamshedpur in 2002.
At present he is undergoing coaching at the Centre of Excellence in SAI Kolkata under Bulgarian coach Ivan Yotov.
